Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect almost nothing, because there is almost nothing to collect. This website is a set of static files, plus one small function that accepts the error reports described below. There is no user database, no tracking pixel network, and no ad tech.

Address lookup

When you enter an address to find your ballot, your browser sends it directly to the U.S. Census Bureau's geocoder (geocoding.geo.census.gov) to resolve your congressional, state senate, and assembly districts. The address is not sent to us — we operate no server that receives it — and it is not stored anywhere by this site.

Quiz answers

Your quiz answers are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only. Clearing your browser data removes them. We never see them.

Error reports

If you use the "Report an error" button, the text you write is sent to this site's serverless function and stored as an issue in our private fix list (a private GitHub repository) so we can triage and fix it. We don't ask for your name or email, and you shouldn't include personal information in your report — write only what we need to fix the problem.

Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics that does not use cookies or track you across sites — only aggregate counts like page views. We also count anonymous totals for things like ballot lookups and completed quizzes, purely as numbers. Nothing is ever tied to you.
