How to Vote in Wisconsin: 2026 Guide
Everything a Wisconsin voter needs for the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 general election: registration deadlines, photo ID rules, early and absentee voting, and Election Day hours. All information below comes from the Wisconsin Elections Commission and official state sources.
- Register online or by mail: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 (online at myvote.wi.gov; requires a valid unexpired Wisconsin driver license or state ID; closes at 11:59 PM)
- Register in person (clerk's office): Friday, October 30, 2026 by 5:00 PM (or close of business, whichever is later) at your municipal clerk's office
- Early (in-person absentee) voting: Tuesday, October 20, 2026 through Sunday, November 1, 2026 (the statutory in-person absentee window). NO in-person absentee voting may occur on Monday, November 2, 2026 (the day before the election).
- Request an absentee ballot by: 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026 (the Thursday before Election Day) — request online at myvote.wi.gov, by mail, email, or fax to your municipal clerk, or in person. A copy of your photo ID must accompany the request (except exempt voters). Special deadlines apply: indefinitely confined / calendar-year voters have until 5:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2026; military voters have until 5:00 PM on Election Day for federal-contest elections.
- Election Day: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM statewide on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Anyone in line at 8:00 PM may vote.
