David Crowley has served as Milwaukee County executive since 2020. Before that, he represented part of Milwaukee in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2017 to 2020. His background includes community organizing and legislative staff work. He won the August 11, 2026 Democratic primary to become the party's nominee for governor.
Positions on the issues
Supports an across-the-board decrease in property taxes to address cost-of-living pressure.
Supports expanding construction of affordable and diverse housing, and backed Milwaukee County's Housing Cost Reduction Initiative.
Supports tax incentives for data centers only if developers meet benchmarks including 100% clean power, no secret deals, no utility rate increases for consumers, local community input, and union labor for construction.
Has said he supports raising the minimum wage, repealing Act 10, and expanding job-training and apprenticeship programs.
Proposed limits on stock trading by public officials, a two-year ban on state utilities and energy companies hiring former elected officials, and barring public officials from using prediction markets.
